A sense of place equal to the grandeur outside
Located on 20 acres in the mountain wooded land east of Truckee, the clients wanted a design for their house that captured the grandeur of the view and evoked the feeling of the rustic, mountain landscape. By using indigenous materials of stone and wood, along with stained concrete floors and heavy timber ceilings, we were able to design a space that harmonized with the surrounding landscape and opened the interior spaces to the outside views. Site design utilized a long profile to allow the house to follow the natural contours of the terrain.
INTERIOR DESIGN FEATURES:
- Radiant concrete floors that reflect the old style mountain design as used in the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite, California
- High ceilings with wood beams and light-colored walls, the interior design creates a sense of place equal to the grandeur outside
